This new residence is composed of five simple vernacular forms that string across the tree line of a secluded meadow and is sited to take advantage of the cooling north-south summer breezes and shading from the hot western sun. The design incorporates passive solar concepts such as cross-ventilation, significant thermal mass, solar-assisted radiant heating, and appropriate overhangs to help maintain even temperatures throughout the year.
